Photomodulation to Enhance Cellular and Tissue Repair

It has been demonstrated that photobiomodulation (PBMT) supports nerve regeneration and functional recovery after peripheral nerve injury. However, a key issue in the use of PBMT as a treatment for peripheral nerve injury is the lack of parameter optimization for any given wavelength. PBMT presents difficulties in selecting parameters for its application due to the lack of standardization in wavelength, power density, and irradiation time which have repercussions on the biological effects. This study proposes to identify in vitro parameters for enhancing neuronal outgrowth as well as characterizing transcription factors aimed in improving the regeneration response of PMBT.
